DH must be thinking I’m schizophrenic. I go through spurts where I want to save anything and everything that can be recycled and used again. Then a week later or so, I go through spurts where I’m sick of all the trash in my house and I toss it all. Since DH takes out the recycling, I’m afraid he is either constantly taking out something that I wanted to keep, or leaving something that I want thrown out. How he puts up with me, I’ll never know!
The problem is that I have all these books with great ideas of things you can do with kids with old items. And I have the best of intentions to actually do these activities, so I save stuff that would otherwise get recycled. However, I hate clutter! And nothing screams clutter more than a pile of garbage. So, to solve the dilemma as to whether to keep or toss an item, I am officially deciding that if I don’t use it in a week, out it goes.
That said, I am starting a new Thursday tradition of revealing the fun toys I’ve made out of trash (hopefully that will help me remember to use the stuff too!). This week’s idea came from a book called “The Toddler’s Busy Book” by Trish Kuffner. It’s like a 2-dimensional Mr. Potato Head.
FELT FACES
Cut out several ovals out of cardboard. Cover with felt and make felt facial features.
This is a great item to take along on errands or to church – anytime your kids need something to do that doesn’t make any noise.
