I finally made it out to the garden today. We’ve been deluged with rain, illness, and let’s face it, a bout of laziness which all conspired to keep me from visiting it for way too long. There’s nothing I love more than a garden that just tends itself! Unfortunately, I don’t have one of those.
Mine is definitely suffering from lack of attention. The beans, peas, sunflowers, cucumbers, and squash all pretty much bit the dust. The watermelon is on its last legs. But regardless, I was rewarded with a bounty of delicious tomatoes, which are still going strong.

It is really a treat because fresh garden tomato sprinkled with kosher salt is one of my all time favorite summer snacks. And double bonus! My kids hate tomatoes. So I get them all to myself (except for a few that I may share with my husband, if he begs).
I was also surprised to find my nasturtiums in full bloom. The last time I saw them, they were little green plants that I thought would never produce a flower.

Who knows? Maybe on my next visit I may actually take care of those dead plants and put in some fall crops. But for now, I’m just enjoying my tomatoes and taking in our last few warm days.
