Are you looking for a way to add some fun to your language arts lessons? Several years ago I came up with this little printable game board that I could use when my kids just needed a little more fun in their school day.

Set up is a snap – just print the game board and write in whatever information you’d like your child to review. Pick out a toy car and some kind of stop sign. The child then reads along the path. If she reads correctly, she can move her car along. If not, the stop sign blocks her progress. We then discuss the item she missed and she starts over from the beginning. If she reaches the stop without any additional errors, the stop is lifted and play continues. If you can’t find a stop sign or similar item, simply use the side of your hand as a big blockade.
It’s a great way to learn phonograms.

Or you can use it to review sight words.

The board is really quite adaptable to any subject you’d like to review – letter names, math facts, grammar concepts. We’ve even reviewed spelling by having my daughter fill in the board with her spelling words and then I get to read along. If the word is spelled incorrectly, I read it as written and we discuss how to fix it.
