For the first time ever, we have decorated for Christmas early this year. “Early” meaning right after Thanksgiving rather than 2 weeks into December. Last year, we never even got around to decorating the tree (although it was quite nice with just white lights).
DH got the lights up outside on Thanksgiving day! Every year, our neighbor comes by to rub it in that we are slackers, but not this year. And we got the tree up and decorated on Friday.
And seeing that we don’t have a fireplace to hang stockings by, I came up with this idea:
It works great, it was easy and cheap to make, and we just may keep the hooks up year round.
I guess it helps that I have energy to think about Christmas this year. Anyone with a newborn should be given a pass on decorating! (And on shopping for gifts, for that matter).
