After 4 months of hanging ALL of our laundry to dry, the day of freedom has finally arrived. Our propane tank was installed Friday, which means we could finally hook up our gas dryer! In honor of the event, I’d like to share the top 5 things I’ll miss line about line-drying:
- The 20-30 minutes spent every day hanging clothes (which coincidentally gives my kids just enough time to creatively rearrange and redecorate the house!).
- Sand-paper textured towels – what an invigorating way to end a shower!
- The sense of purpose that arises from seeing constantly overflowing hampers.
- Waiting around in who-knows-what for 12 hours while I wait for a clean pair of underwear to dry.
- Spending 15 minutes ironing a damp piece of clothing to get it dry (because really, waiting for 12 hours just isn’t feasible sometimes).
So all in all, if you don’t hear from me in the next week or so, just realize that I’m reuniting with an old friend who loosed my chains of servitude and has given me back some precious time!

That is such a long time to be without a dryer. I think I would have loved the laundry mat, just to get the soft clothes effect. Congratulations, getting modern day technology back. 😉
